Grateful for the Journey

I talk about enjoying normalcy a lot because it's important to families who have unique situations. Don't get me wrong. Every child comes with a decent set of challenges. My older one — although she would not like me sharing — certainly gave me a run for my money. But now that she is a full-grown adult, I am so grateful for the windows of time I have with her. As a sibling of a person on the spectrum, she had to sacrifice a lot of time with me and my husband. In truth, we will never know how much she had to do to manage during challenging years. So when I see that she is stable and thriving and loving life — I'm just grateful.
